FACT: LACK OF SLEEP MAKES DEPRESSION & ANXIETY WORSE.
People often don’t realise how closely linked body and mind is.
For Anxiety sufferers, a lack of sleep will make their Anxiety much worse. When we don’t sleep enough, our bodies will try and do anything to survive. It means simple needs like hunger, thirst and others will be more profound and we will be much more aware of them than when we’re rested.
We are vulnerable to anxious and depressive thoughts when we’re tired. So try and get enough sleep; if it’s not possible, accept you’re going to feel worse than usual and look for ways to help your body survive. Eat well, drink well, get rest when you can.
Remind yourself you’re feeling this way because of the lack of sleep, and be kind to yourself on days like this.
